Sonic Advance 1 is a 2D side-scrolling platformer for the Game Boy Advance (GBA), notable as the first Sonic game released for a Nintendo console. Developed by Dimps and Sonic Team, it combines the classic momentum-based gameplay of the Sega Genesis titles with modern character designs and mechanics introduced in the Sonic Adventure series. 

Core Gameplay Features

• Characters: You can play as four distinct heroes:
• Sonic the Hedgehog: The fastest character; features an "insta-shield" for brief protection and the ability to grind rails.
• Miles "Tails" Prower: Can fly and swim for a limited time to reach higher paths.
• Knuckles the Echidna: Capable of gliding, climbing walls, and punching through obstacles.
• Amy Rose: Uses her Piko Piko Hammer for combat and high jumps; she cannot curl into a ball to attack while jumping.
• Levels and Structure: The game features six main "Zones," each divided into two Acts. Act 1 ends with a traditional signpost, while Act 2 concludes with a boss battle against Dr. Eggman.
• Chaos Emeralds: Players can access Special Stages via "Special Springs" hidden in the levels to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds. Collecting all emeralds with Sonic unlocks a secret final boss on the moon.
